Welcome to the West, where Venturing is at its best!
Dreams Can Become A Reality Joseph Csatari, 2004
This web site is here to provide Scouters and Venturers with access to valuable Venturing resources from around the Western Region of the BSA.
The Leadership page will connect you with the people who strive to coordinate Venturing beyond the council level.
The Calendar page will allow you to learn about Venturing specific opportunities throughout the west.
The Activities page can assist you in planning your Crew's next high adventure Super Activity.
The Resources page will refer you to other excellent web resources about Venturing, consultants, products, and Scouting in general.
This site is developed and maintained by volunteers, and we'd like your help to make it into a powerful tool for your use. If you have an event to promote around the Region, submit it for posting to the calendar page. If your council, district, or unit offers a tool or information worth sharing with others, contact our webmaster to get it linked here (or to other valuable sites). If there is a resource you'd like to see available here, please let us know, and we'll see what we can do to develop and present it properly.

What's New
(6/27/09) Venturing & the World Jamboree Western Region is taking a proactive role to help Venturers attend the World Jamboree in Sweden in 2001. Our information will be posted on the World Jam web page with more being added when it is available.
(6/6/09) Jennifer Lowe, 2009-2010 Western Region Venturing President Jen's updated biography is now available on the Leadership page. If you want to contact Jen, her email is president@wrventuring-bsa.org.
(5/23/09) Matthew McGroarty, 2009-2010 National Venturing President Due to the outstanding job that Matthew did as the 2008-2009 Western Region Venturing President, Matthew was selected as the next National Venturing President. Western Region is proud and Venturing will benefit!
(4/28/09) Youth Powder Horn Opportunity This summer, July 6-11, in Marin Council's Camp Tamarancho, located just north of the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge, is a pilot Powder Horn course. Two crews in this course (nominally twelve participants) will be comprised entirely of youth. These crews will function just like the adult crews and have the same experiences.
This course was chosen as the pilot venue because it is the most accessible course to the nation this year. It's a week-long course, so distant travelers only need to travel once. It's less than an hour from the San Francisco international airport.
If you have questions about this course or know of a youth who like to attend, please contact the course director listed in the registration flyer.
(4/14/09) Philmont Training Center We need your help and it will greatly benefit your Council. It is a known fact that Scouters who attend training at the Philmont Training Center come back more knowledgeable and excited about Scouting.
Participants can register on line. Registration details and information regarding week 8 (formerly called Venturing week) is available at www.sageventure.com/venturing/ptc.html. This is the year since next year will be consumed by the 100th Anniversary and the National Jamboree.
(3/12/09) Powder Horn Courses in 2009 The Western Region courses are listed on the Calendar with the sign up flyer if available. However for a quick look, the current available courses are:
